Not being able to travel is officially taking an emotional toll on us!

Fed up about the fact that all those holidays you thought you’d be going on this year have been postponed, disrupted or canceled? Well, you’re definitely not alone if your lack of travel plans has left you feeling lower than you’d expect.

Apparently, not being able to travel the world right now has taken a huge ‘emotional toll’ on us.

According to a survey, a lack of travel has made 48 percent of us feel more anxious and stressed, while 78 percent of those polled said traveling was one of the activities they missed the most right now.

Despite the upset being caused by our inability to explore very far afield, the survey – Amex’s Trendex, which quizzed 2,000 people back in July – also revealed that only 10 percent of respondents had plans to travel at all before September. So basically, we’re also pretty nervous to get back out there in any shape or form, and, let’s be honest, it’s making us kind of miserable.

All we can suggest is embracing a little daydreaming. A Cornell University study from 2014 found that the anticipation of experience, such as a holiday, can substantially increase a person’s happiness, so why not start planning a dream trip – where you’ll go, and what you’ll eat, see and do – for when travel is possible again. Just hold off actually booking anything for now if the thought of having to reschedule or cancel plans again is going to make you more, not less, anxious.

Hi, my name is Lori Judd and I am a CTA Graduate of ICTA (Institute of Certified Travel Agents) as well as a ACC accredit agent of CLIA. I have been in the travel industry for 20 years. I started my travel career at Journey's Travel and later joined the Walt Disney Travel Company, where I booked travel vacations for the company for 10 years. I left WDTC to pursue my dream of opening my own travel agency. Why should you book through me? You will find that am I extremely knowledgeable in my field with first hand experience with many cruise ships and vacation destinations. Plus, unlike most agents who are condemned to book vacations to make their agency a certain amount of revenue (or risk losing their jobs), I am able to book what you actually want vs what the agency needs. This means your vacation needs will never be compromised just because a supplier is offering more commission to book them. Also, since we are affiliated with a larger travel company we are still able to compete with other agencies by giving our clients competitive prices. The bottom line is: Prestige Travel Vacations is more interested in making your dreams come true by booking exactly what your asking for based on your needs and not by what someone else's idea of what a great vacation for you would be just because it will get them more commission. My cruise experiences: DCL- cruised 9 times! Current Platinum Member/ Wonder (twice in '06) and recent 11/2010/ Magic inaugural & Disney Dream -Apr. 2011 RCCL- 5 times! Current Platinum Member.
